- Same problem: I have MacOS 10.13.3 on both an iMac and 2012-era MacBook Air. When I upgraded from Receiver 12.7 to 12.8, the system crashed about every 15 minutes or so. I had to uninstall 12.8 and reinstall 12.7. I was overseas (the UK) when 12.9 came out. I used it there for several hours with no problems.
- I am trying to understand if this is related to High Sierra 10.13.2 upgrade or Receiver for Mac 12.8. Can you confirm that you downgraded from 12.8 to 12.7 by running the uninstaller first? Also, can you confirm that the receiver version that you used with the VM where copy-paste works was 12.8?

You have an external monitor connected by displayport or USB video adapter.
Open the display control panel of MacOS
Move one of the monitors so the relationship of the two monitors is different.
As soon as you release the mouse button after the monitor is moved the widows for shared apps go black.

Solution
Upgrade VDA from 7.6 to 7.15 resolved the issue. https://lac.citrix.com/downloads/citrix-cloud/product-software/xenapp-and-xendesktop-service.html
