Training Overview and Guidelines
Effective August 3, 2020, all badge types will require Active Shooter and Insider Threat training prior to issuance which can be completed remotely.

For those obtaining a SIDA access badge, SIDA training must be completed in the Access DFW training room. You’ll have up to two and half (2.5) hours per session to complete your training and testing. Training guides are provided at the time of fingerprinting so that you can study on your own beforehand.

Testing Policies

- For initial Public and Sterile badge issuance, once you have cleared the security clearances, you are required to take the Active Shooter and Insider Threat Training. All training courses provided by Access DFW must be completed with a score of 100% on the final test. If the training is not successfully completed within 30 days of notification of security clearances, you will need to start the badging process from the beginning.
- For initial SIDA badge issuance, once you have cleared the security clearances, you are required to take Active Shooter, Insider Threat, SIDA and Non-Movement Area Basic Training (or Non-Movement Driver Training if you drive on the AOA). All training courses provided by Access DFW must be completed with a score of 100% on the final test. If the training is not successfully completed within 30 days of notification of security clearances, you will need to start the badging process from the beginning.
- Active Shooter and Insider Threat training must be completed prior to renewal of all badge types. For questions about this requirement, please review the Security Training Policy.
- You are limited to 3 attempts per day, and a maximum of 3 days (9 total attempts), to successfully pass the SIDA and Non-Movement training. After your 9th attempt on the 3rd day, your Authorized Signatory (AS) will need to determine if obtaining a SIDA badge is in your best interest.
- If your AS still wants you to obtain a SIDA badge, you must complete the fingerprinting process again, pay an additional fee, and await new clearances. You will be given 3 more attempts. If you are not successful, you will not be eligible for a SIDA badge, however, can be issued a Sterile badge.
- After one year you will be eligible to reapply for a SIDA badge and retake SIDA training. For more information please review the SIDA Training Attempts Policy.
Cheating Policy
Prior to training, Access DFW will remind you of the rules stated in this handbook for training and testing. Using any of the prohibited items listed below during testing is considered cheating. You will be asked to immediately stop testing and report back to your company. You will not be eligible to receive a SIDA or Sterile badge for one year. After one year, you may reapply for a SIDA or Sterile badge and retake the SIDA training.

During testing, the following items are prohibited:

- Non-Movement Area Familiarization Manual
- Any other written materials
- Any electronic devices such as cell phones, tablets, laptops, or other devices
Security Violations
If you are an existing badge holder and need to retake SIDA training due to a security violation, the above rules apply, except further attempts will not be allowed after the second day.
DFW Active Shooter and Insider Threat Training
With Safety and Security serving as the foundation of DFW Airport’s strategic plan, executive leadership is committed to providing resources to ensure the airport is among the safest and most secure airports in the world. Effective August 3, 2020, both Active Shooter and Insider Threat Training are required prior the issuance of any DFW Airport access badge. These trainings are also required prior to renewing any DFW Airport access badge.
Topics include:
- What to do in the event of an active shooter
- Background information related to insider threat and how to recognize and prevent possible insider threat.
At the end of these courses, participants will be able to successfully pass the final assessment with a score of 100%. Both courses are offered remotely and are not required to be completed in the Access DFW training room. We highly encourage these trainings be completed remotely as space and training appointments are limited.
DFW SIDA Training
The goal of this course is to educate prospective SIDA badge holders and Authorized Signatories about airport security procedures.
Topics include:
- Security Regulations & Responsibilities
- Layers of Security, Airport ID Badges
- Security Violations
- AOA Permits
- Unguarded Openings
At the end of this course, participants will be able to successfully pass the final assessment with a score of 100%. This course is computer-based training that must be taken in the Access DFW training room.
DFW Non-Movement Area Driver Training
The goal of this course is to educate all employees and contractors with access to the Non-Movement Area of the airport, specifically the Central Terminal Area (CTA).
