The EOS C300 is a digital cinema camera in the Cinema EOS range. It was announced by Canon on November 3, 2011.[2] The camera is offered with the option of Canon EF or Arri PL mounts, and has been available since January 2012.[3]

In September 2015 Canon released an updated version, the Canon EOS C300 Mark II.

Sample footage[edit]

Vincent Laforet was given access to a prerelease version of the EOS C300 to shoot the short film Möbius.[4][5] In addition, the C300 was used along with Canon EOS DSLRs (such as an infrared-modifiedCanon EOS 5D Mark II)[6] on the short film When You Find Me, directed by Bryce Dallas Howard and produced by her father Ron Howard.[7][8]

Recently, AbelCine organized a focus group with select cinematographers and specialists from Canon to review the new Dual Pixel Auto Focus (DAF) upgrade for. The EOS C300 Mark II Digital Cinema Camera integrates an 8.85 Megapixel Super 35mm 16:9 CMOS sensor that supports 4K (DCI) recording with a maximum resolution of 4096 x 2160 pixels. The camera fully utilizes the image data delivered by this 4K CMOS sensor to also enable Over Sampling HD Processing for 2K (DCI) and Full HD1080/60p recording.

The Canon EOS C300 Mark II is Canon's update to its first generation cinema camera, the Canon C300, and is part of the Canon Cinema EOS line. Notable new features compared to the previous model are the implementation of a sensor capable of a 15-stops of dynamic range, 4K XFAVC and 12-bit internal recording, color matrices, and the ability to record raw motion video via external recorder.
